OANC is one of the largest netball clubs in the area, consisting of around 60 players making up 4 squads plus a squad of floaters. Everyone at the club, both old and new faces, is geared up to playing good netball and having a successful season.
Trials take place on 14th & 21st July this year. These trials determine which players play for which team according to their playing ability, club commitment and player combinations. We are happy to run four teams in competitive leagues.
Training sessions are held every Tuesday evening during the winter season (September to April) from 7.30pm until 9pm. They are for members only until January when we open them to people on the membership waiting list. (To find out more about membership please email membership@oanc.co.uk) The netball court is floodlit and fenced in, so we never lose our balls! We provide all balls and bibs, and several of our players are qualified umpires - although we are always on the lookout for more.
The leagues we play in are Kingston and Middlesex league. These games are all played at the weekend. We also play in the Chertsey mid-week league. As well as playing throughout the winter season, we enter summer leagues and rallies - and even dabble in mixed netball! Yes guys, who said a man's place was on the rugby/football/cricket pitch?
As well as playing in local leagues we like to jet off to distant shores to take part in netball tournaments. For the past 3 years we have competed in the 'Jersey Open'. The competition is tough and the standard of play is extremely high. The summer tour usually takes part in sunnier climes. The Venice tornament is a good standard of play with lots of time for socialising and sightseeing. We also host several social events (some combined with the rugby club) throughout the year including karaoke parties, Christmas knees-up and an end of season cocktail party.
