The Cycling Club has seen another active year with members taking part in regular social rides, charity rides and overseas trips. |
In July eight members visited in Montreuil in France and spent a pleasant weekend cycling through the area including a visit to the site of the battle of Crecy. Two members spent a week in France on a 240 mile cycle tour. Members have also undertaken a 200 mile tandem ride in Canada over 2 days, a week cycling in Northern Italy plus the usual local rides to events such as the Hedgerley beer festival. |
Next year the Tour de France starts in Dunkerque on the first weekend of July and plans are being made for a large contingent to visit the area for the weekend. |
The Club caters for both serious and social cyclists and Club members are pleased to offer advice on cycling matters to all Old A's members. Members of the Cycling Club may also have access to bicycle repair and maintenance equipment held by the club. |
Regular rides leave from the Club on Wednesdays (6.30 pm 20-40 miles) with a hot meal available afterwards, and Sundays ('A' group 10 am, 40-60 miles, 'B' group 10.30 am, 30 - 50 miles). The rides continue throughout the year. |
The Annual Presentation Dinner and Dance, held in the Club House, take place at the end of November and a Christmas ride is always arranged on a Sunday, followed by traditional Christmas Dinner. |
Annual subscription to the club is 3 Pounds and new members are always welcome. |
